It is the start of a new month, I am really not sure where this year is going if I am honest! But anyway, today is cycle day 10! That means that if it were ‘normal’ I would be ovulating soon! (screw you PCOS!) I actually have come to terms with the fact that I won’t ovulate that early in my cycle and I really don’t even care anymore, at least I am ovulating on my own! Plus, I have started taking inositol, which is meant to regulate your periods and shorten your cycle, so we shall see if that works!
I am so so excited about my new blog, it feels great to be reaching out to people and speaking about PCOS and struggling to conceive, no one really speaks about it! I really don’t understand why, it is so common – it effects 1 in 10 women (how lucky that I am that 1 in 10!!). Learning about PCOS and educating yourself on how best to limit symptoms is really important, I wish I had done it all sooner. Let’s list the main ones?
Exercise – Super important, make sure you are doing it! Although I must admit that I need to do more exercise, I have a friend who is taking me along to a Zumba class soon, I will keep you updated on that one!
Diet – again, really really important. If you eat the right foods your body will respond I promise. I recently lost 2 and a half stone, my cycles went from 70 – 90 days down to 35 – 40 days! If that isn’t proof that it works, I don’t know what is. Trust me, I know its difficult, but once you are in the ‘zone’ it is way easier than you think! Eat a low carb, low sugar diet. That is all I did.
Take the right supplements – I take Inositol, absolutely amazing product that I wish I had known about sooner. It is also recommended that you take Vitamin D supplements. Why not get your partner involved and get them taking zinc? Mr B takes a zinc tablet every morning before work, its meant to help their swimmers!
Stay positive! – My main piece of advice would be to remain happy, positive and upbeat. The minute you stress, worry or get upset you will only delay your period further. This has got to be the hardest tip to follow, trust me I have been there! But if you don’t take control now, it will consume you and that is not a good place to be.
So, October? I wonder what this month will bring. Will it bring us a positive pregnancy test? no ovulation? Or maybe late ovulation? Whatever it does bring, I know that I am excited for our future beyond this month.
Now as I promised, Mr B (my wonderful husband) will be doing a post in the next few days, please keep a close eye out for that! I bet so many of you would love to hear all of this from a man’s point of view, right?
